Epic ride!

While half of you enjoying your soft drink beer eating Dafa dried fish, munching some sweet chocolate cake, biting into those tender roasted pork, slurping those nice fried noodle and licking those chicken wing bones… I was cursing all over… sweating myself and getting myself a nice tan…

I went on an epic ride… hills and hills appear before me…

My target is Semenggoh Wildlife centre and I live somewhere in Desa Ilmu… the weather is couldn’t be any better. The cloud cast a shadow on earth… the previous night, it was raining and its cool. not to mention I’m wearing one of those quick drying shirt..

Started from home around 8.40am, initially planing to leave home by 7am… woke up by the call from gf and she insist meh to wake up… which was turned down and I proceed to sleep till 8… :p

Had a quick breakfast, readjust my handlebar and filled two bottles with water and load up my bags with a rain coat (just in case it rain), tools, bike pump and some food (free nuts from MAS) hehe…

Do lil bit of warm up… and start my journey. Fully motivated…

Lost my motivation 1/4 through the routes as I encounter my first hill, dang.. shift to low gear and climb it slowly… so slow..

Got my motivation back as I roll down the hill and reaching the traffic light junction.. batu 13? I also don’t know.

Check2 on GPS… Semenggoh is half way there.. roll on… and encounter another hill.. dang… and another… and another..
Stop by a waste management park.. almost mistaken it as another ‘taman’.. LOL..

Heard a loud sound.. continous hammering.. autobots?

Apply sunblock as the sun is peeking through the clouds.. which was proved insignificant in the previous paragraph .. and continue on with the journey… the road is clear… xmas.. everyone is drunk. Saw a few dogs, they are such a nice bunch.. smilling back at me as I pass them… I might get motivated if they gave me a nice little friendly woof…

Find out the loud hammering noise.. It’s the Sarawak Clinkers plant.. (tempat batu-batu besar di hentam oleh tukul jadi kecil) and lead me to a junction. Double check with the GPS and turn right to proceed to Semenggoh wildlife… pass by a Jail… don’t really interested to stay there so proceed to pass it quickly… the road get more interesting.. more corner and small hills. Motivated back…

Reached another junction and casually took the left turn.. after a few meters.. It feel strange la… check GPS.. wrong route pulak… heading towards Borneo Heights.. It might become a super epic ride.. make a U-turn.. and head to the Semenggoh wildlife… pass by the Sarawak Seed something… then climb a hill… and stop by here…

Photobucket

Sarawak Biodiversity stuff… (or maybe this is another HQ for Pinehearst take note on the helix logo) It was closed… if not can menyibuk and ask the guard something about the place.. After camwhoring for the basikal.. proceed to a long downhill and reached my destination… The Semenggoh Wildlife Centre…

Talked to the abang tiket.. He told me the feeding time is 9am and 3pm everyday. But there is no guarantee you will see the orang utan as they are moody according to him. And the actual place is 1.3km away from the entrance. He told me that I can cycle in… Hehehe… I say not today, as I only pass by.. report my safety to my control centre in KK and proceed to head home.. which 20km+ away.. Low motivation already le…

Low motivation all the way…. Took the batu 7 – Unimas road… very2 low motivation already.. This particular road is very boring…… Long hill climb but no descent…. Kaki sakit already… Saw few motorist passing me with crates of beer… -_- . saw few motorist stopping by to call their friend to double check the route.. hehe… sesat lah tu..

A dude say hello to me.. Maybe he thought I’m some cycling tourist passing his kampong.. haha.. Bythe time I enter the road to Desa Ilmu.. almost give up… took a shortcut through the back lane back to the house..

Reached home and can’t barely walked… open the gate and straight away sit down.. Cool down, cook rice and fried it.. Report to control centre in KK.

*Now I know why people get those expensive backpack/hydration pack for cycling.. Normal bag just make your back sweat and there is no chance of it drying as there is no air flow…

*Padded shorts would make the ride a lil bit more confortable.. hehe…

P/s: Langkau.. want to join me next time?

P/s: And that is why I dont paint the kitchen… plus I’m lazy.

Hehehe.. since the last time I bought my darling baby no 2… I’m still not familiar with it… since this is what I call budget MTB… need to know what is the limit.. so I embark on a 20+ km journey(forgot to turn on my GPS tracker)

There this particular road that I’m not familiar with so I head towards it…

nice flat land, less traffic.. you can say you own the road there.. hehehe…. cloaked my personal record on the road of 31km/h (unless the GPS screwing up)..

Photobucket
Minum2 session by the road… and enjoying the view.. please ignore the stock parts. going to wear them out and buy a new one. :)

Photobucket
Another pit stop ny the road sign. This is where the road fork into two different route.. will explore it later on… hehehe…..

Spend around 2 hour on the road.. not yet off road le… need to build my stamina back… and the wind is not very helping during the first half of the journey but I’m flying on the last part…. :)

Reach home after I refresh myself with 100plus in the friendly coffeeshop. my 2nd babeh on the rack…

Comments:
1. some part seem to be getting loose
2. paint job scratched.. (my bad)
3. still need some tweaking on the rear derailleur

oh well..

such a newbie…

In case you didn’t realized it yet. I bought a cheap MTB after a very bad impulse buying incident.

People may ask me why? Then… Why not? Life is short and I should enjoy it when I can.

I have clocked 13km so far. planning to add more to that soon… maybe 100km per week? Till I find a cycling partner.. anyone interested? Drop me a mail ya…

And also introducing the ghetto GPS/N78 mount.

N78 + Nokia Sport Tracker work fine to track my cycling activity.

BTW, cycling on a Raleigh make me feel like some old chap. hehehe…

next target, Asajaya?
