DIY super cheap notebook cooler

DIY super cheap notebook cooler.

Since I have a brand spanking new notebook with something they called x2. what the hell is that by the way?

So I decided to have a notebook cooler also. Buying one will solve it quickly but the problem is that the one available out there is not that accurate in cooling effect. It mean the fan blowing at the wrong place while the hot place still hot. Understand?

Was browsing through some forum. Found one solution and idea from forum.lowyat.net. they use plexi glass as the base. Since I want to reduce the budget even lower, I must improvise. ;) hehehe….

I use a cheap plastic file casing, the box thingy as shown below. Bought a super slim fan for the cooling and will need an ac-dc power adapter that support 12v output, available at your local electrical shop. I use usb port for power supply.

Noticed that the fan is located on the bottom left. That is where my hardisk located. So I get direct cooling effect for my hardisk. The fan was set up so that it sucks out air from the hot bottom of the laptop (no pun intended).

I did mention I’m going to use power adapter, but I have another solution, using the 5volt USB port.

Total cost is RM25.
