A long time ago I post an article about Sarikei Here.

Well this time of year I decided to make a living guide. Since the local authorities website is dead…

How To Survive Sarikei for Dummies.

1. Sarikei is a small town so don’t expect anything big or great or happening here…

2. Living cost in Sarikei is ultra low. Rent for a whole house (sometime fully furnished) is RM500 and above. It is rare for you to get RM1000 above. Room renting is even cheaper but not advisable for certain people. ;)

3. Food is cheap here just like Kuching and Sibu. But we have less variety.
Non-halal
Kam Pua mee - from RM 1.80 to RM3.00 (this will be the special one).
Kolok mee – RM2 to RM 3 (this will be the special one).
Laksa – RM2.50 to RM3.50 (extra large)
Chicken, char siew, BBQ pork rice – RM3.50 to RM 4.50 (and sometime depends on your combinations)

Halal
Satay – RM0.30 per stick
Nasi Goreng (all type) – RM3.50 to RM4.50
Mee Goreng – RM3.50 – RM4.50
Sad to say, Sarikei is not a non-Muslim food heaven. It is hard to find Halal food at night in the town centre unless you travel to Kampung Seberang which has a great food court run by the local Muslim. As for non-Muslim we do have 24 hours coffee shop serving kam pua, kolok mee, char mian, char chu mian and etc…

4. As for daily need like food, Maggi, rice etc… we have more than 4 supermarkets to choose from… no you don’t need to tapau Maggi from your place.

5. Weekend market is happening here, every Saturday and Sunday we have people coming from all over Sarikei to sell and buy vegetables, wild vegetables, fish, crab, fresh chicken, kuih-muih (halal and non-halal) and etc… and we have special Sunday market where our lovely trader will sell char siew pork, sau nyuk (what is the spelling?), larp cheong (what is the spelling?) and many more…

6. Banking?
1. Bank Pertanian
2. BCB
3. Public Bank
4. MayBank
5. Hong Leong Bank
6. Bank Utama
7. BSN
8. Bank Rakyat

7. We have post office, JPJ, PDRM, Bomba,

8. We have veterinary service here. It is part of the Department of Agriculture (DOA). Located just behind the Sarikei Library in Nyelong area ( down the road from the Express Bus Station). Be advised that the resident vet is available from 8 a.m till 9.30 a.m only. Open on weekdays only. For further treatment for pets, Sibu is the next best thing.

9. Schooling? We have lot of them, primary and secondary.

10. Bus service or bas berhenti-henti is a common mode of transport here for people from the rural area. We have bus service from Sarikei to/from Sibu, Bintangor, Julau, Pakan, Selalang, Saratok, Roban, Jakar, Bayong, Kampung Seberang (Where the new hospital is), Sungai Paoh ( 5.30 pm only) and bus that travel through the government offices area.

Bought a new watch just now. With my RM300 budget I am far from the eco-drive.

So I end up buying the Casio Edifice EF-309. Cost me RM220. Relatively cheap compared to the RM7000 diamond watch.

Nice ehh… the background have this nice Carbon fiber effect. But sadly no sapphire crystal, it will scratch sooner or later…

excuse me.. I need to wipe the watch clean…

Ok people of Malaysia. Give me your opinion. I need a new watch since my 4 years old Seiko 5 is kaput!.

So I have a realy good reason to buy a new one, right?

Here is the criteria I need.

Budget RM300 below.
Must be all stainless steel. No leather.
Prefer Timex, Seiko, Swatch, Citizen.
Prefer Battery operated or those canggih eco-drive.

I’m really interested with the eco-drive. Anyone using one, please give me the price range.

Please.. ;)

Someone that I like suddenly talk about her problem trusting guys. Stating that she need to feel secure.. bla bla bla… she say she afraid she will be dissapointed again… Is this a hint? Or just my mind trying to make it like one… ;) we will never know.
I will keep on trying.. Maybe something good will come out…

P/S: Comment will not be available. This is just a reminder for myself.
