Pesta Benak a.k.a Tidal Bore Festival in Sri Aman
May 7, 2005 | Posted in Rubbish Talk |I travel 175 km from Sarikei to Sri Aman and woke up at 5 a.m. This is for the sake of interest and curiosity of mine.
Yes it’s that time of year. This is my first time to this event. I’ve been to Sri Aman once and this is the second time. Sri Aman is more developed now.
Welcome to Sri Aman. This is the entrance to Sri Aman. Another 9km to reach Sri Aman from here. Reaching Sri Aman as early as 7.30 am is a good idea because you have parking space to spare. Thank God.

The once great Fort Alice. Now this fort is deteriorating from lack of conservation from the local authority.

The Tidal Bore a.k.a Benak. we waited for 7 hours to see this magical event. It last for ten minutes. What a day. This time the benak is a bit small. There is time when the benak is huge and create the barrel effect.But it still have the wow! factor. More about Sri Aman
This is the mee that we have in Sri Aman. It dont even fill the bottom of my large stomach. Freaking mee vendor.
Traders from all over Sarawak come here to do business. They sell almost everything here. counterfeit goods is among the list. Man.. I love Malaysia.
Yes. That is drug. The Pesta Benak also organize a fair. A lot of Goverment Agencies and NGO join the fair. The drug is shown by the police and anti narcotic booth. The guy from the booth explain about the drugs but i think I will stick to sixthseal.com.
The so called pil khayal a.k.a Ecstacy a.k.a feng tau.
Illegally made or obtain guns used by the local gengster.
This fruit is interesting because the name is Buah Engkelili which is the same with the name of a small town with the name Engkelili.

The caption say “Projek Rain Harverting Sekolah Kebangsaan Selepong” Harverting??? What is harveting??? Spelling mistake.. Should be harvesting. Come on guys you are the educator of our people and you mistakenly spell harvesting and didn’t bother to recheck your spelling twice.
The policeman. Hmm… dedicated.. These guys escort the VIP cars.
Ineresting thing you can find in Sri Aman. A bee or hornet (can’t see, too far) making themself comfy at the Local Library. They are here for the pesta benak also I guess.

Syabas, sigik manah amai info nuan. Aku tok ari Sri Aman juak. Nmbiak Kuching berbini org Sri Aman.
